DEATH OF CAPTAIN FOULIS.
The death of Captain Foulis (Marine Superintendent, Cairns Harbour Board) which occurred at his residence, Esplanade, on Sunday morning, removes another of the fast vanishing band of northern pioneers. A few days ago Captain Foulis was sounding in the channel.
The news of his death will be received with great regret. Deceased, who was 79 years of age, and born in the Orkney Islands, was one of the oldest pioneers on the Queensland coast.
Captain Foulis, the newly appointed Marine Superintendent of the Harbor Board, is now in town making arrangements for taking up his residence in Cairns prior to entering upon his duties. Capt. Foulis, it is understood, will take up his residence on the Esplanade.
