- The Grenfell Record and Lachlan District Advertiser (NSW : Monday 20 March 1933 DEATH OF MR. ARTHUR TRAILL. The death, under tragic circumstances, occurred on Friday last of Mr. Arthur Traill, and his untimely end cast a deep gloom over the town and district, deceased being connected with many well known and respected families around these parts. It appears that deceased had a fencing contract with his brother-in-
law Mr. Victor Hall, and in getting posts from the huge river gums gelignite was used to open up the logs; following an explosion in the course
of the work on Friday a piece of log flew off and struck deceased on the forehead, the piece of wood continuing on its way for about 170 yards. The blow caused terrible injuries, and the injured man only lived for forty minutes. The late Mr. Traill was 41 years of age, and leaves a widow and two boys, Rex and Neville; there are also two sisters - Mrs. R. Dessent (Yarram, Gippsland), and Mrs. N. K. Mitchelson (Lakes Entrance, Vic). Deceased was born at Sale. The body was brought to Grenfell on Saturday afternoon, a service being held in the Presbyterian Church. The burial was in the Church of England cemetery, Rev. J. Walton officiating at both services.
