The North Western Advocate and the Emu Bay Times (Tas. : 1899 - 1919) Saturday 12 October 1918 ACCIDENTS LAUNCESTON. Friday.- A schoolboy named Errol Littlechild, who was on his way to school at Pyengana this morning, met with a serious accident. He became possessed of some explosive, the exact nature of which could not be ascertained by the hospital authorities, and it exploded and almost blew his left hand off. He was brought to the Launceston General Hospital, where he was operated upon, having his left hand amputated ; two fingers of the right hand were also injured by the explosion.
Daily Telegraph (Launceston, Tas) Monday 14 October 1918 Last night the boy Errol Littlechild. whose left hand was amputated at the General Hospital on Friday night, as a result of an explosion at Pyengana and was operated upon on Friday, reported to be doing favourably at the institution.
In 1954, Errol Littlechild and Gwendoline were both alive, living at 15 North Street East Launceston, Tasmania.
