88 YEARS IN AUSTRALIA. Mrs. Jane Gatherer, widow of the late Mr. John Gatherer, who died yesterday at her home in Lawley-crescent, Mt.Lawley, in her 93rd year, was an interesting personality who had spent 88 years in Australia. Born on the Island of Eday in the Orkneys, she went with her parents to Melbourne and saw it rise from a village to a great city. She saw the Burke and Wills expedition set out from Royal Park, Melbourne, in 1860. She lived in Bendigo in its balmy days and came to Perth with members of her family in 1907. She was a staunch and greatly respected member of the Presbyterian Church. One of her sons, the late Mr. John Gatherer, was a Dowerin pioneer.

GATHERER.- On May 9, 1940. at her residence, 36 Lawley-crescent, Mt.Lawley, Jane, widow of the late John Gatherer and loving mother of Margaret, Jean (Mrs. T. Secombe). Adam,Jack (deceased), Eleanor, and Reginald Evan. Aged 92 years.
